About

The Club

Plymouth Archers was formed over 10 years ago by a few members from other clubs and started shooting in a local school. Many letters were sent asking for help and encouragement and these requests were supported by local and national companies, enabling the Club to buy the required equipment.

Following a few of moves due to limitations of the facilities and a financial move by one venue, we now find ourselves at Stoke Damerel Community College - where we enjoy first class indoor facilities and helpful and supportive Centre Staff. The outdoor facilities are very promising; parking is excellent and we have excellent storage areas.

Following a short period of closure the club has moved from strength to strength, enjoying good support from the members in acquiring new students for our highly popular courses, and for their continued attendance on club nights A growing number of Junior members help to swell our ranks including a very active Junior member representative on our Committee.

We shoot in accordance with the Archery GB" Rules of Shooting" and our courses are run under the direction of Qualified Coaches. In addition to Target Archery we enjoy several fun shoots throughout the year, themed for different dates. i.e Xmas, Halloween etc. An increasingly popular guest at these shoots is "Bunny" , but you will have to attend one of these shoots to meet him in person.

If you are interested in taking up this fascinating and challenging sport please visit our Courses page to request the necessary information.

The Club can only accept archers of 10 years old and above, however we have no upper age limit!

Getting to Plymouth Archers

Address

Stoke Damerel Community College, Somerset Place, Plymouth, PL3 4BD

From Plymouth City Centre

Travel towards North Road Station. On arriving at the roundabout just before the train station, go across and down to the next roundabout, taking the first exit into Stuart Road. There is a mini-roundabout at which you keep right carrying along Stuart Road. Turn right onto Wingfield Way to go over the bridge. At the end of the road head across Wingfield Road onto Reynham Road. As the road bears sharp left, turn right up into the car park. Follow the path between the buildings on your left and the pitches on your right. The Sports Centre is at the end of this path to the left.

From the A38 (east)

Arriving at Manadon Roundabout, take the slip road and carry on past the EDF building and Morrisons Supermarket. At Milehouse traffic lights go straight across into Milehouse road. This will soon sweep round sharply to the left into Molesworth Road. Go down hill and turn left into Penlee Way. (Make sure you get the correct turning here... there are quite a few!)

From Cornwall

At Manadon Roundabout take the slip road and go all the way round as above!
